The ongoing 3rd Para-Games in Abuja has been described as a platform that ‘represents Inclusiveness in action’ as well as ‘a powerful statement of intent and a celebration of resilience,’ Sports247 reports.
The festival for physically challenged athletes from all across the country has also been rated as ‘bold step toward a more inclusive future for sports in the country,’ as the competitors are not only showcasing talent but also redefining strong perceptions of ability.
These assertions are contained in a media stamenet from the National Sports Commission (NSC), which further noted. “The Games have created a platform where skill, discipline and passion take centre stage, reinforcing the idea that sports in Nigeria is for everyone, regardless of physical limitations.
“At its core, the Para-Games represent inclusiveness in action. It bridges longstanding gaps, ensuring that para-athletes receive the recognition, structure and opportunities they deserve.
“For many participants, this is more than a chance to compete. It is validation of years of hard work in a system that is now paying closer attention to their needs.
“Beyond the competition, the economic impact of the Games is significant. Athletes and coaches benefit directly through allowances, exposure and endorsements; while a broader ecosystem – ranging from event staff to local vendors – also gain from the influx of activity.”
