The event will take place at the National Stadium in Gaborone and is expected to serve as a key build-up competition for the 2026 World Relays, scheduled for May 2–3 in the same city.
Nigeria will line up against a competitive field that includes hosts Botswana, as well as Poland, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho.
The Lefika Relays continue to grow in stature and will mark a significant moment as one of the major relay events hosted on African soil.
The Nigerian contingent is expected to feature in the men’s and women’s 4x100m, as well as the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay events.
Notably, Nigeria’s women’s 4x400m team has already secured qualification for the World Relays.
The quartet clocked a time of 3:31.14 at the MTN Champs Athletics Classics in Calabar on March 7, a performance that lifted them to 22nd in the world rankings and into the top 24, displacing Mexico in the process.
