In his Eid message, Majekodunmi described the end of Ramadan as more than a period of celebration, noting that it represents a spiritual journey that teaches self-control, humility, sacrifice, and accountability — values he said are essential both in football and in nation-building.
“Eid is a moment of reflection. It reminds us that true strength lies not just in physical ability, but in discipline, patience, and the ability to stay committed to a higher purpose,” he said.
Drawing parallels with football, Majekodunmi emphasized that success on and off the pitch is rooted in collective effort, respect for rules, and unwavering focus, adding that Nigeria can only move forward when its people adopt the same mindset.
“In football, no team succeeds without structure, trust, and discipline. As a nation, we must begin to see ourselves as one team, working together despite our differences, united by a common goal of progress and stability,” he stated.
He further called on Nigerian youths to take inspiration from the lessons of Ramadan by embracing responsibility, rejecting division, and committing themselves to positive actions that will shape the country’s future.
Majekodunmi also used the occasion to stress the importance of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect among Nigerians, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds, noting that unity remains the nation’s greatest strength.
“As we celebrate Eid, let us carry forward the spirit of sacrifice and renewal. Let it reflect in how we treat one another, how we serve our communities, and how we contribute to the growth of our great nation,” he added.
He concluded by praying for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Nigeria, expressing hope that the values of the season will inspire a stronger, more united country.
Eid Mubarak to all Muslim faithful.
