Bayern Munich of Germany’s Nigerian-born midfielder, Jamal Musiala is again in doubt for this year’s FIFA World Cup, after he copped another injury while playing in the UEFA Champions League.
Sports247 reports that Musiala, who only recently recovered from a broken ankle he suffered during last year’s FIFA Club World Cup, bowed out of Bayern’s massive 6-1 victory over Atalanta of Italy on Tuesday.
The youngster’s latest injury blight not only put him in doubt for next week’s return leg at home in Munich, it also cast a shadow over his chances of making Germany’s squad to this summer’s Mundial.
A report by Tribal Football noted in part, “Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig will be sidelined for some time after picking up injuries in Tuesday’s 6-1 demolition of Atalanta.
“The Bavarians, who were dominant in their last-16 first leg victory in Italy ahead of next week’s return leg, saw playmaker Musiala hurt his left ankle, which he broke last year.
“Germany playmaker Musiala, desperate for match practice ahead of the World Cup starting in June, only recently came back to full action following his broken ankle and leg in July 2025.”
Sports247 reports further that Musiala was born in Stuttgart, Germany to a Nigerian-British father named Daniel Richard and German mother with Polish ancestry, Carolin Musiala.
He lived in Fulda until the age of seven, before moving to England with his family, then attended Corpus Christi School in New Malden, from where he gained links into the academies of Fulham, Brentford and Wimbledon.
Musiala, whose nickname is ‘Bambi,’ returned to Germany with his mother at the age of 16, due to Brexit, then pledged his senior national team allegiance to the country of his birth in February 2021.
