President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod, has expressed strong optimism about Nigeria’s volleyball prospects in 2026, revealing that the federation has lined up several major competitions for the national teams.
Nimrod said the coming year presents a valuable opportunity for Nigerian volleyball to strengthen its presence on the continental stage through participation in high-level tournaments.

“We have important competitions ahead of us this year,” Nimrod said. “Our focus is to ensure that Nigeria performs well in every tournament we attend.”
Among the major events on the calendar are the African Volleyball Championship and the African Club Championship, both of which will feature Nigeria’s top teams competing against the continent’s best.
“These tournaments will provide our players with the exposure they need,” he explained.
Nimrod emphasized that participation in international competitions remains a key part of the federation’s development strategy.
“The more our teams compete internationally, the better they become,” he noted.
According to him, preparations are already underway to ensure Nigerian teams are fully ready for the challenges ahead.
“We are working closely with the teams and technical crews to prepare them properly,” he added.
The federation president also expressed confidence that Nigeria’s representatives will perform admirably on the continental stage.
“We believe the teams representing Nigeria will do the country proud,” he said.
Nimrod concluded by highlighting the federation’s broader ambition to elevate the sport within the country.
“Our goal is to keep developing volleyball and make Nigeria a strong force in Africa,” he stated.
With major tournaments approaching, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation is hopeful that 2026 will mark another step forward in the sport’s growth and competitiveness.
