Debreceni Snap Up Stephen Odey on Free Transfer After Randers Exit

Debreceni VSC have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Nigerian forward Stephen Odey on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old striker became available after leaving Danish Superliga side Randers FC in December following the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to a four-and-a-half-year spell in East Jutland.

Confirming the deal in an official statement, Debreceni announced the arrival of the former Nigerian international, highlighting his experience across Europe, including silverware in Switzerland and Belgium.

Odey won the Swiss Cup during his time with FC Zurich and also lifted the Belgian Super Cup with KRC Genk.

Odey initially joined Randers on loan in the 2021/2022 campaign, with the move later made permanent after an impressive start.

He went on to score 28 goals in 129 appearances for the Danish outfit, establishing himself as a reliable attacking presence.

Prior to his stint in Denmark, the former MFM striker also featured for French side Amiens SC, adding Ligue 1 experience to his résumé.

Across his professional career, Odey has netted 83 goals in various leagues, underlining his pedigree as a proven finisher.

For Debreceni — seven-time Hungarian league champions — the acquisition represents a strategic addition of experience and goal-scoring depth as they aim to strengthen their competitive edge domestically.

For Odey, it is a fresh chapter and an opportunity to reignite his scoring touch in a new environment.
