Coach Felix Nwosu who is popularly refer to as Abacha, head coach of the Rangers International F.C. U-19 team, has outlined clear and ambitious objectives ahead of the club’s historic debut at the 2026 Viareggio Cup in Italy.
Speaking with confidence, Abacha stressed that Rangers are not heading to the prestigious youth tournament merely to gain exposure, but to compete strongly and leave a lasting impression on the global stage.

“My ultimate goal is to present a team that is marketable. Winning the tournament is a plus to that goal,” the coach said.
“This is our first time in the tournament and winning it will be equally a milestone achievement. Believe me, it’s possible.”
Often described as one of the world’s most respected youth competitions, the Viareggio Cup attracts elite academies and scouts from across Europe and beyond.
Coach Abacha acknowledged the level of difficulty but believes it will only sharpen his team’s resolve.
“We are not just participating to add numbers,” he added.
“We want to compete and win the hearts of the numerous scouts out there. Our fans all over the world are expecting a lot from us, and we won’t disappoint them.”
On the strength of the opposition expected in Italy, the Rangers youth tactician was realistic yet optimistic.
“It’s going to be a tougher challenge,” he explained. “There’s no way you walk to the finals without meeting and beating some of the best teams. That’s what makes the tournament tough. The foreign clubs are not pushovers either.”
Rangers’ participation in the 2026 Viareggio Cup marks another significant step in the club’s youth development pathway, as the Enugu-based side continues to position itself as a breeding ground for top talent capable of transitioning to Europe and the senior national teams.
For Coach Felix Ifeanyi Nwosu and his young charges, Italy represents more than a tournament—it is a proving ground for ambition, belief, and the future of Rangers International.
