A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Youth Development, Tunde Delu, on Tuesday laid the foundation for the Taidob College Indoor Sports Arena in Abeokuta during the school’s 8th Inter-House Sports Competition.
Delu, who chaired the event, urged students to balance academic excellence with active participation in sports, stressing that education and athletics must go hand in hand in shaping well-rounded individuals.

He was accompanied by three respected athletics coaches — Bamidele Elegbede, Abayomi Ashipa, and Olufemi Durosanya — who identified at least 16 students with the potential to compete at higher levels in state and national competitions.
In his remarks, Delu described inter-house sports competitions as a strategic platform for discovering young talents while instilling discipline, resilience, teamwork, and healthy competition among students. He commended Taidob College for providing facilities and a supportive environment that encourage extracurricular engagement.
The governor’s aide also praised the administration of Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun for prioritising youth development, sports advancement, and community engagement across Ogun State.
In appreciation of his contribution, the management, staff, and students of Taidob College presented Delu with an Award of Excellence. The honour was conferred by former Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Sabur Adesanya.
The indoor sports arena project is expected to boost sporting activities within the institution and further align with the state government’s broader agenda to strengthen grassroots sports development.
