Enyimba FC has strongly condemned the unprofessional conduct of the Match Commissioner during its Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 26 fixture against Ikorodu City, played on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, which resulted in accredited journalists being denied access to the venue.
The club described the incident as unfortunate, unacceptable, and inconsistent with the standards of professionalism expected in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Enyimba FC categorically stated that the decision to lock out duly accredited members of the media was neither initiated nor sanctioned by the club or any of its officials.
As a club with a proud history and deep respect for the role of the media in the growth and global visibility of Nigerian football, Enyimba FC emphasized that sports journalists are critical stakeholders in the game.
Their work not only informs and educates fans but also promotes transparency, accountability, and commercial value within the league.
The Aba-based club expressed sincere regret over the inconvenience and embarrassment caused to the affected journalists and media organizations, noting that it fully understands their frustration.

Management further disclosed that it is already engaging the appropriate league authorities to seek clarification on the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure that such an occurrence does not recur at future fixtures, whether at the Enyimba International Stadium or elsewhere.
Enyimba FC also appealed to supporters, media partners, and the wider football community to remain calm as the matter is being addressed through the proper channels.
