The Nigerian record holder held his own in a meet that saw several of the world’s best shot putters produce early-season big marks, underlining the growing intensity of the indoor circuit.

While the podium places were decided by massive throws beyond the 21-metre mark, Enekwechi’s performance signalled positive progress as he builds form toward peak competitions later in the season.

American Jordan Geist  dominated the event, equalling his World Lead of 22.04m to claim victory. He was closely challenged by Rajindra Campbell of Jamaica, who registered 21.94m, while fellow American Roger Steen completed the podium with a 21.88m effort.

Despite finishing just outside the medals, Enekwechi’s outing in Madrid reflects a solid foundation for the months ahead, especially against opponents already hitting elite distances.

With the indoor shot put season gathering momentum, the Nigerian remains firmly in contention as he sharpens his form and targets bigger throws as the campaign progresses.
