Sports247 gathered that 29-year-old Ndidi, who now plays for Besiktas of Turkey, had been very keen on making a quick return to England, where he previously starred for former champions, Leicester City.
He left Leicester in the summer of 2025, after The Foxes got relegated to the lower division English Championship, but he appeared to be home sick all along and, despite making an impact with Besiktas, Ndidi wanted to leave.
This much has been confirmed by Romano, who added that Ndidi’s agents offered him as a hot bet transfer prospect at Manchester United, but The Red Devils’ top brass felt he did not fit into their projections.
United then formally turned down the opportunity of signing the former RKC Gent of Belgium battler, who left Leicester after eight years and 303 games, and he will now have to stick with Besiktas until this summer.
Romano disclosed via his ‘Here We Go podcast,’ Friday night: “In terms of incomings, I can tell you that Wilfred Ndidi, former Leicester midfielder now at Besiktas, was offered as an opportunity to Man United.
“A low‑cost option, the player was very keen on the move, but United decided immediately not to proceed. They had the chance to do something like a low‑cost deal, but they chose against it.
