Daga, the captain of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, was notably absent from the 26-man squad that traveled to La Nucia for the club’s winter warm-up ahead of the new season.

The camp includes four goalkeepers, ten defenders, eight midfielders and five attackers, with the Nigerian midfielder among those excluded.

The 21-year-old joined Molde last season as one of Nigeria’s most highly rated U-21 midfield prospects and went on to make 17 appearances across all competitions.

He had been tipped to play a more prominent role in the upcoming campaign before the off-field issue emerged.

The case, which was first reported in late April 2025, remains under police investigation. While Daga is yet to receive a verdict, his representatives have continued to maintain his innocence as legal proceedings progress.

Under Norwegian law, Daga has been formally charged, with a court hearing scheduled for March 2026 at the Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court. Molde have confirmed that the midfielder will remain sidelined from team activities pending the conclusion of the case.

Both the player and the club are said to be cooperating fully with the authorities as the investigation continues.
