Sports247 reports that, although Obi was her team’s second top scorer in the game and they were initially tipped to carry the day, The Wildcats surprisingly fell to the 17th placed Tennessee.

Obi’s efforts fell flat on a night Mia Pauldo netted 21 points, shot 9 of 22 from the field and 2 of 11 from beyond the arc for Tennessee, who got their seventh straight win of the season.

Pauldo’s second 20-point mark of the season overwhelmed Obi’s side (17-4, 4-3), who rank fifth at turnovers per game with 11.0, as they committed 10 turnovers in the first half and 11 in the second.

Former Pennsylvania University star, Obi’s 14 points and 11 rebounds placed her behind Ameila Hassett on 16 points for Kentucky, while Tonie Morgan scored 13, with Clara Strack adding 14 rebounds and nine points.

Kentucky had a missed shot and two turnovers in the final 90 seconds, as Tennessee secured their second-straight win over a ranked opponent, after their earlier 70-59 dominance over Alabama on Sunday.

In the wake of Obi’s efforts, a citation for her stated in part, “A Hartford, Connecticut, native, (she) spent the last four seasons at Penn from 2021-24.
