The Kwara State Volleyball Association has announced that the 9th edition of the DKITS Kwara State Secondary Schools Volleyball Championship will commence with preliminary matches on January 21, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen grassroots sports development in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Association, Coach Wale Badamosi disclosed that the preliminaries will be conducted across selected local government areas and educational zones to ensure broad participation by secondary schools.
According to the schedule, Ilorin West Local Government will host the opening matches on January 21 at the Stadium Outdoor Volleyball Court, Ilorin, followed by Ilorin South on January 22 and Ilorin East on January 23 at the same venue.
The competition will then move to Asa Local Government on January 26 at Lasoani Comprehensive High School, before proceeding to the GSS Alapa Zone on January 27 and the GSS Afon Zone on January 28.
The final phase of the preliminaries is slated for January 29 in Moro Local Government, at ECWA Senior Secondary School, Shao.
Coach Badamosi noted that all matches are scheduled to kick off by 8:00 a.m. daily, stressing the importance of punctuality and proper preparation by participating schools.
He also revealed that preliminaries in Kwara South will begin immediately schools resume in the zone.
The championship, sponsored by Professor Tunde Adepoju, is designed to identify and nurture young volleyball talents across secondary schools in Kwara State, while providing a competitive platform that promotes discipline, teamwork, and excellence at the grassroots level.
The 2026 edition is expected to further strengthen volleyball development in the state and offer young athletes an opportunity to showcase their potential on a structured and competitive stage.
