Ademola Lookman Bound To Face Stiff Opposition If He Sticks With Atalanta

Super Eagles’ star, Ademola Lookman could be in for a tough battle for shirts at Atalanta of Italy if he decides to stay beyond the January transfer window, as the Serie A club have signed a new winger from Atletico Madrid of Spain.

Sports247 gathered that Lookman has been offered deals at Galatasaray of Turkey and Tottenham Hotspur of England but, while he is yet to make up his mind on a move, Atalanta have already signed someone to rival him.

In what appears like a veiled wake up call to Lookman, his coach at Atalanta, Raffaele Palladino is talking in glowing terms about the new arrival in Bergamo, as the gaffer gleefully welcomed their swoop for Giacomo Raspadori.

The Italy international joins Lookman’s club from Atletico in a deal worth €22m, with high expectations of quickly settling down among the stars at La Dea, after getting a medical on Thursday ahead of their clash with Pisa.

Palladino said: “He’s a strong player who has completed the attack. I’ve always liked him a lot, and the club, being very ambitious, managed to bring him to Bergamo.

“With the arrival of Raspadori, Atalanta has many options, in addition to the likes of Samardzic, De Ketelaere, Maldini, and Lookman, there’s also Krstovic, who is doing very well.

“They know they have to push in training, but I’m very happy with them. I have a team ready for anything, where everyone knows how to seize opportunities. We’re very strong in attack.”
