Ilerika FC booked their place in the final of the 8th Edition of the Ibro Peckham Marlians Football Competition with a commanding 3–0 victory over Kowope FC in the semifinal encounter.
The contest, played with high intensity, saw Ilerika FC assert control early and convert their dominance into goals. The breakthrough arrived in the 23rd minute, when Hart ThankGod latched onto a well-weighted through pass before calmly finishing to give Ilerika FC the lead.
Momentum swung further in Ilerika’s favour in the 40th minute as Abiodun Gabriel capitalised on a goalkeeping error, reacting quickest to slot home the second goal and put Kowope FC under serious pressure before the interval.
Kowope FC were handed a lifeline with ten minutes remaining when they were awarded a penalty, but Sowunmi Segun failed to convert from the spot, missing the opportunity to reduce the deficit and spark a late comeback.
Five minutes later, Ilerika FC effectively sealed the contest. Once again, Hart ThankGod was instrumental in the build-up, threading another incisive pass that found Olayiwola Azeez, who finished with confidence to make it 3–0, mirroring the style of the opening goal.
Ilerika FC remained composed in the closing stages, managing the game professionally to secure a deserved clean sheet and progression into the final.
With this emphatic win, Ilerika FC will now await the outcome of the second semifinal clash between Mama of Africa FC and Ajax Sporting Club, as anticipation builds ahead of the final showdown of the prestigious community tournament.
The result underlines Ilerika FC’s attacking efficiency and tactical discipline as they edge closer to lifting the Ibro Peckham Marlians title.
