A Lagos-based author, motivational speaker, master of ceremonies and orator, Richfield Blessit has highlighted the need for young sports talents to develop Oral English skills at early ages in life.
The graduate of English Studies, who is an ardent fan of Manchester United, told Sports247 that oral language skills would help talented youths communicate better while still in Nigeria and when they travel abroad.

The experienced English Language teacher, who is fondly called ‘Mr Richfield,’ added that sports talents who have a strong grip on proper pronunciation of words and well-articulated intonation would create a better impact during media interviews.
He added, “My favourite player of all time is Christiano Ronaldo. He’s the epitome of hard work, talent, and consistency. My favourite Nigerian player has to be Victor Osimhen, because the passion with which he plays the game is contagious.”
While stressing the need for determination, zeal and diligence in order to move ahead in life, Richfield disclosed that he has put his ideas into writing and his latest book – Sound Succees In Oral English – will be launched on February 7th at Sapphire Pink Hall, Custom Bus Stop, Ijegun-Ikotun, Lagos.
The expert in skills of spoken language then explained the motivation that led him into writing the book and why it is a very useful study item that budding sports stars must add to their kit bags.
He expatiated, “Everything we do in life requires communication, and English Language is gradually becoming the universal medium of global interaction for sports.
“Hence, I believe that access to a book like this will help prospective sports stars improve their ability to communicate and also imbue confidence in themselves.
“They will also be able to interact freely with top grade personalities, corporate sponsors, educated people, and among foreigners. Having a good command of any language makes one confident.”
Richfield also revealed that, as a sports loving kid, he learnt that having good spoken English is essential for young talented footballers, athletes, basketball players and youths who engage in various other disciplines, even if they are no longer in school.
He disclosed, “I played football when I was much younger. As a matter of fact, those who knew me in my growing up years still wonder how and why I didn’t end up with a career in football.
“I was born in the northern part of Nigeria, Gombe State, to be precise. In my late teens, I had a brief stint in Benin City before moving over to Lagos, where I later developed an interest in learning Oral English.
“To start with, I am a lover of sweet accent. That was the energy that propelled me into exploring the sonorous spice of speech sound, but we were not taught orals in the university.
“Even after I attended certificate programmes to acquire the knowledge and skills of Oral English, I never really got my grasp of it, until I finally went on a personal quest of demystifying it. That was when I struck the chord of speaking with a silver tongue, and here we are today.”
The highly articulate and smooth-talking speech modulator concluded by recommending the book to students, government officials, broadcasters, journalists, event hosts, voice-over peesonnel, lecturers and the general public.
“This work is a product of years of research into how to simplify the dynamic sounds in the Oral English block.
“It also explains how to gain mastery over diction, command of language and proper pronunciation of words on a daily basis.
“I recommend a copy of this book to anyone who intends to speak in a sleek, polished, cream and delectable manner.
“Like my students would say, if you want to speak glass English, this book gives you the mastery tool at your fingertips,” Richfield submitted.
