Plateau United have appointed experienced tactician Gbenga Ogunbote as their new Technical Adviser ahead of the second stanza of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Ogunbote replaces Coach Shola Ayegun, who has officially parted ways with the club following a run of poor results.

The club management has already informed Ayegun and his assistants of the decision.
The appointment was confirmed on Sunday evening by the Chairman of the Plateau State Football Association, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, who disclosed the development to journalists at Hotel Mouzha, Fes, Morocco.
Plateau United’s decision to effect a technical change follows a disappointing first half of the season. Since Ayegun’s emergence at the beginning of the campaign, results have not gone in the club’s favour, leading to growing dissatisfaction among supporters.
Fans’ frustration came to the fore during Plateau United’s home defeat to Abia Warriors on Sunday, where placards were displayed in protest against the team’s poor performances.
After 19 league matches, the Jos-based side currently sit 19th on the NPFL table, having recorded six wins, one draw and 12 defeats, accumulating just 19 points.
Ogunbote, a respected figure in Nigerian football, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously managed clubs such as Sunshine Stars, Rangers International, Remo Stars and Shooting Stars.
Renowned for his tactical discipline and team-building ability, the seasoned coach is expected to stabilise Plateau United’s campaign and engineer a strong turnaround in the second stanza of the season.
Plateau United will now look to Ogunbote’s leadership to restore confidence, improve performances and steer the club away from relegation danger as the league resumes.
