Speaking from the team’s camp base in Fès, Morocco, Ndidi stressed that securing maximum points in the opening game was crucial to Nigeria’s ambitions at the tournament.
“Getting the first three points was very important for us,” Ndidi said. “It gives the team confidence and puts us in a good position going forward.”
The Leicester City midfielder noted that while the result against Tanzania was positive, the Super Eagles are aware that improvements are needed as the competition progresses.
“We can learn a lot from that game,” he added. “There are things we did well and areas we need to adjust before the next match.”
Ndidi explained that the win has allowed the team to settle quickly into tournament mode and shift full attention to the challenge posed by Tunisia, one of Africa’s most experienced sides.
“Now that we’ve won the first game, our focus is fully on Tunisia,” he said. “We’re working on raising our level, improving our confidence and preparing properly for the next opponent.”
The Super Eagles captain also emphasized the importance of maintaining concentration and consistency, noting that AFCON matches are often decided by fine margins.
Nigeria face Tunisia later today in Fès, with a positive result expected to strengthen their push for qualification from Group C.
