Shooting Stars Sports Club secured a 2–1 victory over Niger Tornadoes in a competitive Nigeria Premier Football League encounter, with the Oluyole Warriors showing composure and resilience to claim all three points.
Team captain Gbolagade led by example, returning to the starting XI and wearing the armband for the fixture. Kabir Tijani also returned to the fold, while Joshua Akpan was named among the substitutes, marking his first matchday involvement of the season. The Oluyole Warriors were once again under the guidance of head coach Nurudeen Aweroro.
The breakthrough arrived just before the interval as Shooting Stars were awarded a penalty in the 45th minute. Captain Gbolagade stepped up and converted confidently to give the hosts a 1–0 advantage heading into halftime.
After the restart, Shooting Stars continued to push forward. In the 59th minute, Tunde Azeez tested the Niger Tornadoes defence with an ambitious effort from distance, but his strike drifted wide of the post.
The pressure eventually paid off in the 64th minute when Awosanmi Promise doubled the lead with a well-taken goal, putting the Oluyole Warriors firmly in control.
Awosanmi came close to adding his second of the night in the 82nd minute, but a crucial goal-line clearance denied him, keeping Niger Tornadoes in contention.
As the match entered its closing stages, Shooting Stars made a triple substitution in the 87th minute, with Desmond, Austin, and Stephen introduced in place of Ismail, Azeez, and Tijani to shore up the result.
Despite a late response from Niger Tornadoes, Shooting Stars held on to secure a 2–1 victory at full time, capping a disciplined performance and reinforcing their ambition as the NPFL season progresses.
