Wasi Adeshina was crowned the new PFL Africa featherweight champion after defeating Alain Majorique via second-round doctor’s stoppage at the historic PFL Africa Finals in Cotonou, Benin on Saturday.
The landmark event at the Sofitel Dome produced the first set of Professional Fighters League Africa champions and delivered a night packed with decisive finishes and standout performances.

Adeshina’s title victory was sealed at 3:07 of Round Two after cageside doctors ruled that Majorique could not continue due to a deep cut sustained in the opening round.
Despite Majorique’s spirited attempt to rally in the second frame, persistent bleeding forced referee Cedric Medegan Fagla to halt the contest.
The win secured Adeshina the PFL Africa featherweight crown and the tournament’s $100,000 prize money.
Another Nigerian, Juliet Ukah, also enjoyed a memorable outing as she extended her unbeaten professional record to 8–0.
Ukah dominated Egypt’s Maryam Gaber, scoring a first-round TKO at 3:12 with sharp boxing and superior reach to announce herself as one of Africa’s most promising female fighters.

The finals also crowned other inaugural PFL Africa champions.
Nkosi Ndebele captured the bantamweight title with a devastating body kick knockout of Boule Godogo just 27 seconds into the second round.
In the welterweight final, Yabna N’Tchala completed a dramatic comeback as Shido Boris Esperanca retired on his stool before the fourth round, handing the Angolan the championship crown.
In the heavyweight division, Abraham Bably needed just 21 seconds to stop Justin Clarke with a flurry of punches, sealing the title with his third consecutive first-round knockout of the tournament.
Cornel Thompson claimed a unanimous decision win over home favourite Jean Do Santos in a lightweight bout, while Eliezer Kubanza returned to winning ways with a first-round ground-and-pound stoppage of Francois Mozou Ahizi.
Elsewhere on the card, Styve Ngono Essono dominated Meledje Yedoh over three rounds to earn a unanimous decision, Abdoulaye Kane secured a second-round TKO against Jashell Ticha Awa, and Mouhamed Ba made a strong statement with a first-round TKO of
Desmond Awa Tamungang. The opening bout saw Shelda Chipito begin her professional career with a convincing unanimous decision victory over Miracle Andrew.
The PFL Africa Finals marked a major milestone for mixed martial arts on the continent, with multiple champions crowned and Africa’s emerging talent firmly in the global spotlight.
