Wheelchair Table Tennis Star Adewale Oluwadamilare Tells NSC To Organise Para-Games For Nigeria

A member of Nigeria’s wheelchair table tennis team at the 1st West Africa Para-Games in Abeokuta, Adewale Oluwadamilare, has called on the nation’s sports authorities to organise something similar in the country.

Oluwadamilare told Sports247 in an exclusive chat that the maiden competition in The Rock City brought about many ideas and experiences that must not be allowed to fade away with the passing of time.

He said it that it was wonderful being part of a new atmosphere at home in Nigeria, similar to what he experienced during competitions he has attended in several nations overseas.

Oluwadamilare disclosed, “I’ve played at the US Open, Switzerland Open, London Paralympics, Turkey Cup, and many others.

“This is the first time they are hosting the West African Para-Games, and as time goes on, they can make it better. Once they continue staging this competition, they can use it for global qualifications.”

He concluded with a direct message to top shots in the National Sports Commission (NSC) to put together something similar for para-athletes from all across Nigeria to compete in multiple events among themselves.

“The NSC should come out to promote more events in para-games. This would encourage more athletes to come in from outside, and more people can participate.

“That way, we’ll be moving Nigeria to a high level in terms of special sports competitions for the country’s physically challenged athletes,” Oluwadamilare posited
