Kanu Sends Strong Message: ‘I’m Not Done Yet — I’m Fighting to Return and Win WAFCON for Nigeria’

Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu has declared that she still has much more to offer the national team, insisting that her focus is now on staying fully fit, healthy, and ready for a strong comeback as Nigeria prepares for the 11th WAFCON title push.

Kanu, who missed parts of the last WAFCON due to fitness concerns, said she is determined to take control of everything within her power to ensure she returns stronger and more prepared.

“If there were questions about my fitness before, my priority now is controlling what I can, staying fit, staying healthy, and staying ready,” she said.

The forward emphasized that playing for the Super Falcons is always a source of pride and that she is working relentlessly to regain her place in the squad.

“I still have a lot to offer. I want to return to the team and give even more than before,” Kanu stated.

She admitted that being away from the national team setup has made her appreciate it even more, adding that she deeply misses the unity, competitiveness, and sisterhood within the Falcons’ camp.

“I miss my teammates. I miss the environment. I miss everything about representing Nigeria,” she confessed.

Looking ahead, Kanu said she is fully committed to the Falcons’ quest to secure their 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, noting that the team’s history and pedigree demand nothing less than victory.

“We want that 11th title. Nigeria is built on winning, and we must continue that tradition,” she said.

She added that her personal goal is not just to return but to return better, contributing goals, assists, leadership, and experience.

Kanu also praised the younger players coming through the system, saying their energy and hunger excite her and motivate her to work harder.

“The new talents are amazing. They push me, and I push them. That’s how a strong team is built,” she noted.

She concluded with a message of determination and ambition:

“I’m coming back stronger. I’m ready to give everything for Nigeria again.”
