Niger United appeared to be cruising after a strong first half that saw them take a 22–16 lead over COAS Shooters. But the soldiers mounted a fierce response after the restart, closing the gap to just one goal in the final seconds. Despite the pressure, Niger United held firm to clinch a 32–31 victory that boosts their climb up the standings and highlights their growing resilience in tight contests.
Earlier, De-Defenders set the tone for the day with a measured 25–19 win over Tojemarine Academy. After establishing a narrow 13–10 lead at halftime, they maintained composure throughout, sealing the win with disciplined defending.
Safety Shooters delivered the day’s most ruthless performance, overwhelming Benue Buffaloes 47–21 in a one-sided affair. The Abuja-based giants stormed ahead 22–11 at the break and never eased off, showcasing their title credentials with a display of relentless speed and precision.
Rima Strikers also recorded a commanding win, defeating Lagos Seasiders 36–26. The Sokoto side combined sharp transitions with organised defending, capitalising on their 20–15 halftime advantage to secure back-to-back victories in Phase 2.
