Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has urged Nigerian international Bright Osayi-Samuel to compete for a place in the starting lineup, following a period out of the team due to injuries.
Davies, speaking to Birmingham Mail, acknowledged the 26-year-old defender’s potential impact: “Bright has been brought in to be an important player for us. He made a good start then with injuries he found himself out of the team.”

The manager also praised Tomoki Iwata, who has been filling in at right-back during Bright’s absence. “Tomoki was moved to right-back because both right-backs were injured, and Tomoki has been one of, if not the best, full-backs in the league in that time. He’s been exceptional.”
Despite the competition, Davies emphasized that Osayi-Samuel has a clear opportunity to reclaim his spot: “There’s an opportunity for Bright to come in and show what he can do because he’s an international player, he’s played at a really good level and he’s been working well.”
Bright Osayi-Samuel, who has represented the Super Eagles on the international stage, now faces a crucial period at Birmingham City as he aims to make his mark in the Championship once again.
