The Kogi State Government has unveiled a new set of welfare packages for Confluence Queens as part of renewed efforts to boost the team’s performance ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Premier League (NWFL) season.
The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, during an engagement with the squad on Monday, just before their departure for Wednesday’s season opener against Abia Angels at the Edo State University pitch, Iyamho.

The Lokoja-based side returns to Iyamho this season after the league body ruled out their former home ground in Anyigba over inadequate facilities. Confluence Queens had played their home fixtures at Prince Abubakar Audu University last term.
Commissioner Anyebe told the players that the new welfare initiatives are designed to create a stable, motivated environment capable of driving high performance and competitiveness throughout the campaign. The packages—expected to strengthen morale, enhance player welfare, and support technical operations—signal the state’s commitment to repositioning the club.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Team Manager, Mrs. Tosin Olorunleke Ojo, lauded the government’s renewed push.
“We sincerely appreciate the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports for his tireless efforts to ensure Confluence Queens are fully ready for the new season,” she said.
“He has been working tirelessly to keep the team happy, especially the players and coaches. He has also assured us of more goodies and packages that will motivate the team to make Kogi State proud.”
Mrs. Ojo also applauded the club chairman, Hon. Abdulmalik Isah (Dolly), for his commitment and consistent support in ensuring a smooth and successful season.
With enhanced backing from the state and renewed confidence within the squad, Confluence Queens enter the new campaign with momentum—hoping their improved welfare structure translates into results on the pitch.
