Two Super Eagles’ stars, Victor Osimhen and Ola Aina have been named in a list of 11 top players who will not be at next year’s FIFA World Cup due to non-qualification of their countries.
Sports247 gathered that Osimhen and Aina, who are both currently injured, after copping knocks on international duty, are among five African players whose names appear on the unenviable roster.

Osimhen, who has been in top form this season with Galatasaray of Turkey, bowed out at half time of the Super Eagles’ loss via penalties to DR Congo this past Sunday, during the final of Africa’s 2026 World Cup qualification play-offs in Rabat, Morocco.
Aina, who plays for Nottingham Forest of England, was floored against South Africa, during the original qualification series, and has since not featured for club or country.
While both players nurse physical wounds and rue their inability to help Nigeria reach the World Cup for a second straight edition, their woes have been compounded with the inclusion of their names in an unwanted squad list of 11 impending absentees at USA/Canada/Mexico 2026.
The ignominable roster, as published by BBC Sport, goes thus – iJan Oblak (Slovenia); Ola Aina (Nigeria), Willi Orban (Hungary), Nikola Milenkovic (Serbia), Milos Kerkez (Hungary); Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon), Dominik Szoboszlai (Hungary), Carlos Baleba (Cameroon), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Georgia); Serhou Guirassy (Guinea), Victor Osimhen (Nigeria).
