Enyimba Axe Eguma After Woeful Run, Ukaegbu Steps In as Interim Boss Ahead of Katsina Clash

Enyimba FC have pulled the trigger on a major technical shake-up following a string of dismal results, directing long-serving Technical Adviser Stanley Eguma and his assistants, Ndubuisi Nduka and Joseph Boma, to step aside with immediate effect.

The decision—confirmed in a letter handed to Eguma after an emergency management meeting on Sunday—came just hours after the People’s Elephant suffered a deflating NPFL matchday 13 defeat to Wikki Tourist at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

With the former champions losing four of their last six games and managing just one win in eight, the board signaled it could no longer tolerate the downward trajectory. According to the club’s statement, the shake-up is part of a “thorough review” of the team’s performance as management seeks to arrest the slide and re-energize the squad.

Assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu has been drafted in to take interim charge of training and tactical preparations ahead of next Sunday’s matchday 14 showdown with Katsina United in Jos. His short-term mandate: stabilize the dressing room and deliver a response on the pitch.

The coming days promise to be defining for the nine-time NPFL champions as they navigate both internal restructuring and a critical phase of the season.
