Islamic Solidarity Games: Busy Weekend for Nigeria Boxers as Zainab Motunrayo Faces Algeria’s Fatiha Mansouri In Semi-Final

It’s set to be a busy weekend for Team Nigeria’s boxing contingent as two national boxers are scheduled to step into the ring on Saturday at the ongoing 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Leading the charge is rising star Adeshina Zainab Motunrayo, who continues her impressive run in the Women’s 51kg category.

The petite but fearless boxer will face Algeria’s Fatiha Mansouri in what promises to be a thrilling semi-final showdown at The Promenade Art Tower, one of the main venues of the multi-sport event.

Zainab has been one of Nigeria’s standout performers, displaying exceptional skill, precision, and composure throughout the tournament.

Her remarkable first-round knockout victory over Iran’s Ghazaleh Rasouli in the opening bout announced her as a major medal contender.

With a place in the final now within reach, the Nigerian pugilist will be looking to extend her fine form and overpower her Algerian opponent, who also brings considerable international experience to the contest.

In the men’s division, Raheem Ridwan Opeyemi will also be in action on Saturday, November 8, when he takes on Uzbekistan’s Abdullahi Madaminov in the Men’s 65kg quarter-final at the Sports Boulevard-Promenade.

Ridwan will aim to replicate Zainab’s success and push Nigeria’s medal ambitions further as the Games enter a crucial stage.

After a brief rest day on Friday, Team Nigeria’s boxing squad is returning to action with renewed determination and optimism.

With the nation’s fighters showing strong form across various weight categories, hopes remain high that Nigeria will secure multiple podium finishes before the curtains fall on the boxing event in Riyadh.
