Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) is bracing for what the body’s leadership has promised will be a most exciting edition of its annual domestic league, which will enter its ninth year from November 6 to 21, Sports247 reports.
Top shots of the sport’s govverning body are also happy that this year’s edition of what is officially tagged 2026 Ardova Handball Premier League comes up after the renewal of their partnership with the sponsors for an additional three years.
HFN press officer and vice-chairman of the federation’s media commission, Cosmos Chukwuemeka Akisi disclosed that the renewed agreement further strengthens a partnership that continues supporting development and growth of the sport in Nigeria.
Akisi added: “The top tier Handball Premier League will be played at the National Institute For Sports (NIS) Surulere, Lagos and Rowe Park Sports Complex, Alagomeji, Yaba, with the country’s top clubs expected to compete for honours in the men’s and women’s categories.
“The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) teams, Safety Shooters and Safety Shooters are defending champions of the league. Three times winners Safety Shooters are champions of the men’s category.
“Seven-time champion Safety Babes, who clinched an unprecedented 5th consecutive titles last season, are the champions of the women’s category with their unbeaten records stretching to the 2022 season.
“The Ardova Handball Premier League has established itself as the country’s top domestic handball competition, providing a platform for clubs and players to compete at the highest level, discover and develop talents, while contributing to the growth of the sport in Nigeria.”
