Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reiterated Plateau State’s full commitment to hosting a successful 27th Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) at the University of Jos (UNIJOS), assuring stakeholders of the state’s readiness to deliver a world-class sporting experience.
Speaking ahead of the Games scheduled for later this month, Governor Mutfwang pledged the state government’s support in key areas including stadium upgrades, logistics, and security arrangements to ensure smooth operations throughout the event.

According to the Governor, Plateau’s rich sporting culture and warm hospitality make it the ideal destination for the national university sports festival. “Plateau is ready to welcome Nigeria,” he declared, emphasizing that the NUGA Games present an opportunity to showcase the state’s unity, youth talent, and tourism potential.
He noted that strategic preparations are underway to provide athletes and visitors with a safe and conducive environment, while also ensuring that the Games leave lasting infrastructural and developmental benefits for Plateau State and the University of Jos community.
The 27th NUGA Games will bring together student-athletes from universities across Nigeria to compete in various sporting disciplines, marking a major highlight in the nation’s collegiate sports calendar.
