Simon’s Strike Ends Monaco’s Unbeaten Run As Paris FC Reclaim Top-Half Spot

Nigeria’s Moses Simon emerged as the hero on Saturday night, netting the decisive goal that handed Paris FC a 1–0 victory over AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II — a result that ended the hosts’ six-match unbeaten streak in Ligue 1.

Simon fired home Maxime Lopez’s cutback early in the second half, sealing a much-needed win for Paris FC and lifting them back into the top half of the table.

The Super Eagles winger has now been directly involved in five goals this season — three goals and two assists — underlining his growing importance to Sébastien Pocognoli’s side.

Despite Monaco’s early dominance and several first-half chances from Aleksandr Golovin and Krépin Diatta, the hosts could not find a breakthrough. After Simon’s opener, Paris FC absorbed intense pressure, with goalkeeper Kevin Trapp producing a crucial save to deny Maghnes Akliouche midway through the second half.

The defeat dents Monaco’s title ambitions, leaving them four points adrift of leaders Paris Saint-Germain after 11 matches.

Coach Pocognoli praised his team’s discipline and highlighted Simon’s influence, saying, “Moses brings confidence, creativity, and goals when it matters most. He’s a leader in every sense.”

The result not only snapped Paris FC’s three-game winless run but also marked their eighth Ligue 1 fixture this season decided by a single goal margin — a testament to their grit and growing maturity under pressure
