Dar es Salaam – The Tanzania national football team, Taifa Stars, suffered a 2–0 defeat to Iran in an international friendly match played on Monday in Dubai, extending their recent run of poor form.
Just a week after being eliminated from the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign following a 1–0 loss to Zambia, the Taifa Stars once again failed to find their rhythm, leaving fans frustrated and calling for changes in the squad’s management and selection.

Iran’s goals came from Amirhossein Hosseinzadeh, who converted a penalty, and Mohammed Moheb, sealing a comfortable win for the Asian side.
The result has intensified criticism toward Taifa Stars head coach Hemed “Morocco” Seleman, who has been accused by supporters of leaving out key players capable of improving the team’s performance.
Tanzania’s struggles in front of goal and lack of consistency have been a recurring concern. The team has not won a single match since their 2–1 victory over Madagascar in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) earlier this year — a campaign that ended in a quarter-final elimination.
With the latest defeat, pressure is mounting on coach Hemed Morocco to revive the team’s fortunes ahead of upcoming international fixtures and restore confidence among fans who are growing increasingly impatient with the team’s results.
