New signing at Fulham of England, Samuel Chukwueze has disclosed that he is not yet thinking about how he will settle down at the English Premier League club, as he wants to first help Nigeria secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sports247 reports that Chukwueze’s recent move to London-based Fulham will see him team up with two of his Super Eagles’ pals – Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey – but the product of Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia is not thinking about that camaraderie for now.
Rather than plot how he will settle down and mingle with friends at Craven Cottage, the former Villarreal of Spain left-footed dazzler, who joined Fulham from AC Milan of Italy, stressed that he is fully focused on helping Nigeria defeat South Africa this Tuesday in Bloemfontein.
Chukwueze started by admitting he is happy with his move to Fulham, and conceded that he is eager to start playing in the EPL, but stressed that he will meanwhile concentrate fully on the national team assignment, then think about his new club afterwards.
He declared, “I can’t wait to get started at Fulham, because it has always been my dream to play in the Premier League, and every player wants to be there. It’s one of the best leagues in the whole world. But, for now, I’m just focusing on the World Cup qualifiers.”
Chukwueze concluded by affirming the importance of the Super Eagles’ winning Tuesday’s clash with Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Bloemfontein, as victory would help them consolidate on Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo.
“For now, I’m just focusing on the World Cup qualifiers; because we have to win these two games to secure our qualification. So, for now, the most important thing is how to secure the qualifying points and get the job done for Nigeria,” Chukwueze submitted.
