Birmingham City of England summer signing, Bright Osayi-Samuel is counting on what he believes is the best defence and deadliest attack in Africa to help Nigeria win their upcoming matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Sports247 reports that Osayi-Samuel, whose move from Fernebahce of Turkey to Birmingham came as a surprise earlier this summer, started with a look at Saturday’s game against visiting Rwanda at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo and tagged it ‘must-win’ for the Super Eagles.

The former Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers of England right-wing-back stressed, “We just have to win this game. It doesn’t matter how we do it, we have to win the game and show everyone that we can still qualify for the World Cup.”
However, while affirming that the Eagles are truly condemned to win Saturday’s potentially decisive home encounter in The Nest of Champions, Osayi-Samuel admitted that they cannot afford to take Rwanda for granted, despite having won the first leg 2-0 away in Kigali.
He conceded, “From my experience so far, I think all African teams are now tough. So, I can’t say because we beat them before that we will beat them again. What I can say is that we have the best squad in Africa.
“Knowing the quality of defence we have gives us the confidence that we can beat any team. We also have the best two strikers, and they have a lot of experience. So, our aim is to try and put all this together and pull up our chemistry.”
Osayi-Samuel concluded by emphatically assuring Nigerians that each of the Eagles’ players will put in their very best on Saturday, as well as during Tuesday’s battle away to South Africa, in order to get their World Cup hope back on solid ground.
“We will go out there, believe in ourselves, and I’m sure we’ll defeat Rwanda. Against South Africa, it will be difficult, because we’ll be playing away, but I still believe we can beat them with our good squad,” Osayi-Samuel theorised.
