Abia State athletes delivered a dominant performance in Para Table Tennis at the National Youth Games in Asaba, completing a podium sweep in the men para-singles that underlined their strength in the sport.
David Emeka clinched the gold medal after defeating his teammate Jaja Celestine in an all-Abia final of the male singles. Celestine settled for silver, ensuring the state secured the top two spots in emphatic fashion.

The success didn’t stop there. Goodnews added a bronze medal to Abia’s tally after overcoming Ogun State’s Raji Aishat Anulowapo in a tense third-place match.
In the women’s singles, Chinenye Okoafor was in blistering form, blowing past her opponents in swashbuckling fashion to book a place in the semifinal.
The triple medal haul and today’s Semifinal marks a significant moment for Abia at the Games, as the state now stands with four golds, one silver, and one bronze in its medal collection so far.
