Lobi Stars Edges out Future Guaranteed FC 3-2 in Friendly Match

Lobi Stars secured a 3-2 victory over Abuja-based Future Guaranteed FC in a friendly match played at McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi.

Suur Kumaga opened the scoring from the penalty spot after his initial strike hit the defender’s hand, leaving the centre referee with no option but to point to the spot. Future Guaranteed FC equalised through Abraham Anthony’s free kick, making it 1-1 before the half-hour mark.

Kumaga restored Lobi Stars’ lead with another penalty, and Bidemi Owoku’s thrilling goal gave the home team a 3-1 lead at halftime. Future Guaranteed FC reduced the deficit to 3-2 through Victor Ifeanyi’s free kick in the second half, reviving their hope of an equaliser as the minutes wound down, but Lobi Stars held firm to protect their lead till the final whistle.

After the match, Head Coach Abubakar Bala praised his team’s performance, stating that the encounter allowed him to assess his team in a competitive atmosphere. He commended Future Guaranteed FC for their maturity and composure, making the match exciting.

“I’m glad with the result, it’s a work in progress. There are positive gains and areas to improve. We’ll continue to build on the positives and address the grey areas ahead of the new season,” Coach Bala said.

In a gesture of sportsmanship, Coach Bala presented a souvenir to Future Guaranteed FC’s head coach after the match.
