Kenya confirmed their dominance in Group A of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia at a packed Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Sunday.
Ryan Ogam’s decisive strike midway through the second half was enough to hand the Harambee Stars maximum points, ensuring they finished unbeaten at the summit of the group.

The result also condemned Zambia to an early exit, with the Chipolopolo failing to secure a single point in the campaign.
In the other Group A fixture played simultaneously at the Nyayo National Stadium, Morocco defeated DR Congo 3-1 to seal their progression. The Atlas Lions, two-time CHAN champions, displayed their experience and quality to overcome the Leopards, who were left stranded in third place and eliminated from the competition.
With the group stage concluded, hosts Kenya and Morocco advanced to the quarter-finals. Kenya will remain in Nairobi to face Madagascar in their last-eight clash on Friday, while Morocco will travel to face Tanzania in what promises to be another exciting encounter.
The results underline Kenya’s growing strength on home soil under coach Benni McCarthy, as well as Morocco’s consistency in the continental competition.
Both teams will now shift their focus to the knockout stage, where the stakes are even higher.
