CHAN 2024: Edema Fuludu Questions Level Of Coaching, Practise Sessions, Instructions Given Eagles’ B-squad

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Edema Fuludu has joined the chain of reactions trailing the home-based national team’s poor performance at the Championship of African Nations (CHAN 2024), with a suggestion that another look should be given the team’s training sessions and type of instructions they receive from their coach.

Sports247 reports that, while not directly pointing any accusing finger at the technical crew led by Eric Chelle, Fuludu opined that the players are individually talented and stressed that they should not be blamed for their poor results.

The former player, who is now an administrator, argued: “The boys are not bad. They have individual talents. They have quality and they are good, but they didn’t play as a team.

“However, football is a team game. When you bring a bunch of good players together, their ingredients of performance depend on the type of coaching they receive.”

Fuludu went on to buttress his argument that the CHAN Eagles are technically deficient by pointing out that the squad appears to be in need of better coaching for every aspect of the game, especially when they get into tight spots during matches.

He asserted: “Coaching is very, very important in a game. Even if you don’t coach your team in the first half, you have to do something in the second half to make sure they get better.

“However, I think these boys did not get any form of practise going into their games. So, individual players cannot gel as a team; since they have not received quality instructions. That’s why they could not perform.”

Although the Eagles have already crashed out of CHAN 2024, following defeats by Senegal and Sudan, Chelle and his assistant coaches have a last chance to redeem themselves with their last group match versus Congo.

Sports247 reports that, should the Eagles win the match on Tuesday, they will finish with a consolation third spot in the group, as Congo currently have two points, but they could still qualify if they beat Nigeria.

Congo would finish second if they win, and either Sudan or Senegal lose their simultaneous last game, ahead of which they both have four points each.
