In a renewed effort to reposition state-owned football clubs for success, the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has inaugurated a new Management Committee for the Ondo State Football Agency.
The newly constituted committee, which will work directly under the Governor Lucky’s office, is composed of professionals with diverse backgrounds in sports administration and marketing.

Their primary mandate is to revitalize the state’s top football outfits and reposition them for competitive excellence.
The members of the committee are:
1. Divine Ogbonnaya – General Manager
2. Segun Joseph
3. Awosakin Iloyomade – Representative, Ondo State Football Association
4. Iyabo Ajanaku
5. Dapo Ajibade – Marketing Consultant
The committee will oversee the management and strategic direction of Sunshine Stars Football Club, Sunshine Queens Football Club, and the Sunshine Stars U-19 team.
This move aligns with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s earlier commitment to restoring the pride of the state’s football institutions and ensuring their return to the top tiers of Nigerian football.
Sunshine Stars got relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League last season while Sunshine Queens struggled in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership prompting calls for the overhaul.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Governor urged the committee to carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the clubs’ existing challenges and implement reforms that will halt their downward slide.
The Governor emphasized the importance of strategic leadership, accountability, and community engagement in rebuilding the clubs and returning them to winning ways.
