BREAKING: D’Tigress To Arrive Abuja By Noon With AfroBasket Trophy

Nigeria’s victorious women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, will depart Abidjan today at 10:00 a.m. via two chartered flights carrying players and officials, following their historic win at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket.

The team is expected to land at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by 12:00 noon, bringing home the championship trophy after defeating Mali 78–64 in the final on Sunday.

With this win, D’Tigress clinched their fifth consecutive AfroBasket Women title and seventh overall, extending their unbeaten run in the tournament to 29 games since 2017.

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the team, describing their victory as a symbol of national pride and resilience. A reception is expected to be held in their honor in Abuja.

Their win also secures automatic qualification for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin.
