Remo Stars and Rivers United, who emerged first and second respectively in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), will feature in the CAF Champions League. Meanwhile, Abia Warriors — who finished third — and Federation Cup winners Kwara United, will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Sources indicate that CAF is considering aligning the draws with the CHAN tournament, which will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. The competition provides a suitable platform for major administrative activities as football attention shifts to East Africa in August.
For the Nigerian contingents, the upcoming draws are pivotal as they strategize for a strong start in continental football next season. The CAF Inter-Club competitions remain a crucial stage for Nigerian clubs to test their mettle and restore continental dominance.
In a related development, Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team will also participate in the CHAN tournament — a competition reserved for players based in domestic leagues. Their presence in the tournament adds further Nigerian interest to the event, both on and off the pitch.
As the date draws near, clubs are intensifying preparations, with the hope of favourable draws and improved campaigns compared to recent seasons.
