Newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars and Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has declared his mission to restore the club’s past glory, unveiling a nine-point agenda focused on revival, sponsorship, and fan engagement.
In a passionate address to journalists at the club’s home ground in Kano, Musa emphasized that Kano Pillars would not settle for mediocrity in the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. “We are going for the trophy this time around,” he declared confidently, urging fans and stakeholders to rally behind the team.
Musa, who is uniquely balancing the dual responsibilities of player and club executive admitted the challenge was daunting but achievable. “On the pitch, I’m just a player and the coach has full authority.
Off the pitch, I’m the General Manager, and I’m responsible for pushing the club forward,” he explained, making a clear distinction between his roles.
As part of his reform agenda, Musa stressed the urgent need for financial backing. He revealed that while temporary government support was being sought to stabilize the club, the management had already initiated talks with several private companies for long-term sponsorship deals. “Very soon, we will get it right,” he assured.
A key focus of his agenda is fan mobilization and digital growth. Musa highlighted a noticeable improvement in the club’s social media engagement since his appointment, which he described as “a much-needed step forward” in reconnecting with supporters and attracting corporate interest.
Promising a transparent and inclusive approach to team management, Musa said every player would be given a fair chance to contribute to the team’s success. “With the support of our fans, we don’t need to depend on the government alone,” he added
The former Leicester City and Al Nassr forward said the entire club was now focused on turning the page from last season’s disappointments. “We’ve already taken measures to avoid a repeat of our past failures,” he said.
Musa’s bold leadership vision comes at a time when Kano Pillars, one of Nigeria’s most storied football clubs, is aiming to reestablish itself as a dominant force in domestic football.
