Crown FC Technical Advisor, Coach Ayodeji Ayeni, has called for improved officiating standards in the ongoing 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 Playoffs in Asaba, expressing frustration over what he described as questionable refereeing decisions that have hindered his team’s progress.
Ayeni, speaking ahead of Crown FC’s crucial final group match against hosts Warri Wolves, decried what he termed “unfortunate incidents” in their previous games—specifically pointing to contentious penalty calls in matches against Kun Khalif and Osun United.

“The early penalty awarded against us in our first match and the late one against Osun United were tough to take,” Ayeni said. “These moments have tested our resilience, but we remain determined.”
Despite the setbacks, the experienced tactician remains optimistic about their chances of securing a place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), describing the Super 8 campaign as a major learning curve for the team.
“We are focused on our next game against Warri Wolves. With the right mindset and strategy, I believe we can get the result we need to qualify,” he added.
In a passionate appeal, Ayeni urged the NNL Organising Committee to scrutinize the officiating standards and ensure that fairness prevails in the remaining fixtures.
“We believe in the integrity of the league and expect that the officials will allow fair play. All we want is a level playing field, especially against the home team,” he stated.
Ayeni also rallied support from Crown FC fans, urging them to stand by the team as they push for a return to Nigeria’s top flight.
“With unity, belief, and God on our side, we can achieve promotion. The boys are hungry, and we’re ready to give our all,” he declared.
Crown FC currently face a must-win situation against Warri Wolves to keep their NPFL hopes alive.
