Rasheed Akanbi Bids Emotional Farewell to FC Sheriff After Memorable Spell

Nigerian forward Rasheed Ibrahim Akanbi has officially ended his chapter with Moldovan champions FC Sheriff, parting ways with the club following the expiration of his contract.

Rasheed Akanbi, who joined the Tiraspol-based outfit in 2022, quickly established himself as a key figure in the club’s domestic and continental campaigns. Over the course of his two-year stint, the 24-year-old featured in 82 matches, scored 32 goals, and helped the club to multiple silverware hauls — including the Moldovan Super Liga title, two National Cup triumphs, and notable runs in the UEFA Europa League group stage and Conference League playoffs.

His departure marks the end of an era for Sheriff, where Akanbi’s contributions on and off the pitch earned him the admiration of fans and teammates alike.

With his next destination yet to be announced, the former Nigerian youth international is expected to attract interest from clubs across Europe, given his proven scoring record and European experience.

As he prepares for a new challenge, Akanbi leaves Tiraspol with a decorated resume and the gratitude of a club he helped return to dominance.
