Cynthia Chioma Nweke underlined her status as Nigeria’s brightest young sprinting talent, storming to victory in the U20 women’s 100m final at the Nigerian Junior Championships in Sagamu.
Coming into the competition as the overwhelming favourite, Nweke lived up to the hype, powering through a strong headwind (-2.9 m/s) to clock 11.77s — well clear of the chasing pack — and secure her second major title in just a few weeks, following her earlier triumph at the National Sports Festival.

Success Oyibu settled for silver with a time of 12.00s, while Making of Champions (MoC) Academy’s Lucy Nwankwo dug deep to claim the bronze in 12.13s.
Nweke’s commanding win not only confirms her consistency at the top of junior sprinting in Nigeria but also positions her as a serious contender for international honours in the near future.
