Goals from Yusuf Kareem (7’), Yusuf Olatunji (43’), and Saheed Aderibigbe (47’) had seemingly sealed the win for Kwara United, but two quickfire goals from the opposition reignited tension in the closing stages.

Despite the late drama, Kwara United held their nerve to lift the historic title.

Their triumph was not only a testament to tactical discipline but also individual brilliance. Coach Abdulkadir Jimoh was named Best Coach of the Tournament, goalkeeper Sheriff took home the Best Goalkeeper award, while Mohammed Abdullahi was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State added further prestige to the occasion with his presence in the stands, personally presenting medals to players and officials. His participation underlined the administration’s growing commitment to grassroots sports development.

Speaking after the win, Coach Jimoh lauded his boys’ resilience and praised the club’s management for backing the youth project. “Winning the first edition of this league means a lot. It shows what can happen when hard work meets opportunity,” he said.

The victory marks a major milestone in Kwara United’s youth development journey and positions the club as a benchmark for nurturing young talents in Nigerian football.
