The 31-year-old centre-back brings a wealth of experience to the eight-time Romanian champions, having played in some of Europe’s most competitive leagues. Omeruo, a product of the Chelsea system, has featured for clubs across England, Spain, the Netherlands, and Turkey, including stints with Middlesbrough, ADO Den Haag, CD Leganés, Kasimpasa, and Alanyaspor.
A seasoned international, Omeruo has earned 69 caps for the Super Eagles, captaining the national team at various points and playing pivotal roles in Nigeria’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations triumph as well as the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.
CFR Cluj confirmed the signing on Friday, stating: “We are pleased to welcome Kenneth Omeruo to CFR Cluj. Starting today, he is officially part of our team.”
The move offers Omeruo a fresh challenge in Eastern Europe, as he aims to bolster Cluj’s defensive ranks and help the club reclaim the Liga I title and make a deeper push in continental competitions.
