FIFA Referees to Officiate Men’s and Women’s Federation Cup Finals

Top FIFA referees have been appointed to take charge of the 2025 President Federation Cup Finals, with the prestigious matches scheduled to take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Saturday.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Referees Committee, Dr. Joseph Ogabor, a respected FIFA referee and lecturer at the University of Calabar, will officiate the men’s final between Kwara United of Ilorin and giant-killers Abakaliki FC of Ebonyi State.

Ogabor will be assisted by FIFA Assistant Referee Mahmud Yakubu of Bauchi, one of Nigeria’s fast-rising officiating talents, and Emmanuel Omada of Edo, a recent participant in the CAF Young Talent Program in Egypt.

Omada, who received his FIFA badge earlier this year, will be making his debut in a Federation Cup final. FIFA referee Yemisi Akintoye, who is part of Nigeria’s officiating team heading to the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, will serve as the fourth official.

In the women’s final, featuring Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels, FIFA referee Hannah Eliagwu from the FCT has been appointed as the center referee. She will be supported by Akwa Ibom’s Mfom Friday Akapan and Edo’s Agbons Faith, both FIFA-listed officials. Patience Ndidi Madu will serve as the fourth official.

To ensure top-level performance, retired FIFA officials will oversee refereeing duties as assessors. Peter Edibe, a CAF/FIFA-trained technical instructor and former Chairman of the Cross River State Referees Council, will assess the officials for the men’s final. For the women’s final, Nigeria Football Referees Association (NFRA) National Training Officer and retired FIFA referee Olori Jumoke Adebisi of the Oyo State Council will serve as assessor.

The appointments underscore NFF’s commitment to high officiating standards as both matches promise thrilling action and decisive moments on Nigeria’s biggest domestic football stage.
