Oweh Foundation Hosts American Football Clinic in Lagos

Over 100 young athletes participated in a two-day American Football clinic organized by the Oweh Foundation at the Elegbata Sports Complex, Lagos Island. The initiative is part of the foundation’s mission to empower underprivileged youth and promote American Football in Nigeria.

The clinic was spearheaded by National Football League (NFL) player Odafe Oweh of the Baltimore Ravens, alongside fellow professionals Nnamdi Madubuike and David Ojabo. They were joined by American football technical expert Jordan Collins, who helped train participants on the fundamentals and positional techniques of the game.

The Oweh Foundation is dedicated to nurturing young talents and using sports, especially American Football as a tool to steer youth away from negative influences. By engaging them in structured training and mentorship, the foundation hopes to raise responsible and impactful members of the society.

Oweh expressed satisfaction with the participants’ enthusiasm and potential, stating that the foundation will continue to support initiatives that build character and athletic skill.

“We’re using sport as a vehicle to transform lives and raise ambassadors for their communities,” Oweh said.

He also acknowledged the positive impact football has had on his own life, affirming the foundation’s commitment to instilling strong values in every participant.

Coach Tobi Abbey also praised the initiative, noting that American Football is gaining momentum in Nigeria. He believes the Oweh Foundation’s efforts will significantly enhance the growth and performance of young players across the country.

One of the participants, Okwudili Chisom, shared his excitement about the clinic. He highlighted the importance of communication and discipline in the sport, especially in his offensive role on the field.

“American Football is fun,” Chisom said. “I encourage more children to come out and play.”
